SC CYBER ECOSYSTEM DEMANDS AN EDUCATED AND SKILLED WORKFORCE

IT’S TIME TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT CYBERSECURITY AND GET YOUR CAREER ON TRACK

CYBER JOBS IN SC

While estimates of the talent gap range substantially, the consensus among various studies of the cybersecurity labor market is clear: There is a significant shortage of cybersecurity workers across the United States. The U.S. does not have enough trained professionals available to meet the current and future demand of this vital industry. That is where workforce development programs step in—to train (and retrain) a broad, deep, and diversified labor force that can fill the wide variety of jobs needed to meet the demand. Workforce development programs have a direct impact on a local level, as they typically develop and connect local labor with local employers. This factor considers the strength and variety of workforce development programs that cater to professionals aspiring to enter or advance within the cybersecurity industry. We also consider whether workforce development programs expand opportunities for veterans, as well as populations underrepresented in the information technology industry. -- 2022 SC Department of Commerce Study
